What is Nature's most perfect food?
by compound complex ingreetings, gourmands of the forum!.
i agree with garfield, but mayo comes in a close second.
slathering my pasta with an inch of best foods real mayonnaise (hellman's, east of the rockies) is close to heaven for me.

The Key Text on JW.Org Leaves Out The Most Important Part!
by steve2 inperhaps the one scripture most often quoted by jws is matthew 24:14: "this good news of the kingdomwill be preached in all the inhabited earth and then the end will come.
" even after decades away from the kingdom hall, i can still rattle off that verse.
i daresay all 8-plus million "active" jws can also recite it, plus the untold millions who have left or become inactive across the decades.. it is among the top cornerstone texts used in jw communications.. but now there's a significant shift in the use of that text: jws often focused heavily on the part of the scripture about the end coming.

Do A Majority of Those That Bother With Doctrine Reject the Current Teachings?
by OnTheWayOut inon another thread, shadow asked pimojw, a newbie still serving in a congregation, "how about the overlapping generation?
do you know anyone who actually believes that?
"answer was "no i dont!

Sorry OTWO but I'm not close to anyone who would be in that position and my decades long truce about doctrinal discussions precludes me from asking. I will say that there was an admission about the RC that "They didn't do things right back then." Not doctrinal but a crack in the edifice nonetheless.

New "Annointed" Brother In My Old Hall...
by pale.emperor ini've only just stopped laughing.. in my old hall there's a brother who's now claiming to be of the anointed.. he's 28.. i do wonder if he's doing this for attention, if he's awake and messing with them, or if he really is that deluded.
when i was in he was an ms. which surprised even me because only a year earlier than that he was "a bit of a lad", is rubbish at talks and relies on his elder uncle to get him out of trouble all the time.. i guess this now means he's get his pick of jw sisters.
he's been after the same one as the rest of his peers since 2014..

Award Shows and Entertainment---Do You Want To Hear Political Views During A Show?
by minimus inif i watch a ball game or an awards show or some other type of entertainment, i really don't care about politics.
i enjoy politics but there's a time and there is a place.. i think it's getting out of hand and it's getting pretty boring...but that's just my humble opinion..

It's their show. When they receive an award it is their moment in the sun and their opportunity to express themselves. Don't like it? Don't watch it. I wouldn't like it if in the middle of a movie they stopped and faced the camera to preach some liberal view, but that's not what we are watching on an awards show. It is the actors speaking for themselves. All you have to do is make a choice, watch or not. I don't mind when they blather on, it certainly makes known who they are and how they feel. Ok by me. -

"Please pray for me."
by compound complex ingreetings, friends:.
today, i saw an old friend in town, and, after we got caught up and finally said our goodbyes, she asked me to pray for her.
family problems were eating her up.. how have you responded if and when you were asked this?
-
Wasanelder Once
I agree with flipper about offering practical help. I would say, "If he is listening to anyone's prayers it would be yours, but I can listen and talk to you about what can be done to help and support you. He just might be trying to answer your prayers through others. I'm here for you."
Why make it a discussion about theology? To tell them prayer doesn't work is to crush their only source of comfort.

How many do you figure are converted through the door to door ministry?
by HereIgo ini regular pioneered for 2 years and never have actually converted anyone through the door to door work, in fact, i only knew a few individuals that joined this way.
most were born-in or at least had some type of family influence.
i had several bible studies but they all got cold feet when things got serious and potential baptism was discussed.

Two people from door to door in 9 years pioneering. Eleven total enslaved through my efforts. Damn it!
One was Disfellowshiped and died young on a motorcycle. 100 mph plus makes a puddle.
One DA'd, (went to college and got a clue).
The others were all uber dubs and have faded away, dead, inactive, etc.

As a JW how would you answer this if someone brought it up in the ministry?
by NikL inas a jw i pretty much just went along with what was taught from the platform i didn't do any real bible study.
as a result, now that i am out of the org.
i find scriptures that blow my mind.. i am not sure how i would have reacted if someone had pointed this out to me when i was a jw but now i can't believe i've never noticed this before.

If we could ask the Disciplines today this one question.
by pleaseresearch inimagine if we had an opportunity today to ask any of the faithful disciples this question.. who resurrected jesus?.
what would their response be... if they still remembered what jesus said in john 2:19-22.
19 jesus replied to them: “tear down this temple, and in three days i will raise it up.”+ 20 the jews then said: “this temple was built in 46 years, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 but he was talking about the temple of his body.+ 22 when, though, he was raised up from the dead, his disciples recalled that he used to say this,+ and they believed the scripture and what jesus had spoken.. .

Jesus was obviously made of yeast because he rose himself. Gimme a break. He died and the zealots made him a hero. How many resurrected people do you know?
